Date: Sunday, 6th of June, 2021
Path: Own route
Distance: 12,3 kilometres
Ascent: 138m
Descent: 138m
For this hike, which I organised for the Facebook group "Hiking in Belgium", I specifically aimed at children with some hiking experience and their parents, given the distance. The hike took us along the terrils of Les Piges (Dampremy), Couloutes, Saint-Charles and the Fosse du Biérau. From each of these mining terrils, you have an excellent, mostly 360° panoramic view of the region around Charleroi.
Attention: Walking sticks are recommended on the sometimes very steep descents of the terrils.

By public transport: Station Charleroi-Sud is reachable by direct train from Brussels (about 50 minutes). During weekends, there is at least one train per hour.
