After two months, I could finally put on my hiking boots again. For the occasion, I organised a small group hike on the GR576 and GR15 between Sy and Aywaille. This one is for hikers looking for a quiet hike in the countryside.
From the train station of Sy the trail immediately climbs up to the 60 meters high rock face that towers above the river Ourthe. At several points there are viewpoints where the view is sometimes obstructed by foliage. After about three kilometres the trail emerges from the forest onto a bare hill, with a view of the Ourthe valley and the ruins of the castle of Logne. Via Vieuxville, some fields and a few parts of forest you arrive at Ferrières-Malaccord after ten kilometres. A few more forest roads and a small stretch of asphalt later, we pass by the College Saint-Roch and the beautiful field with rapeseed flowers opposite. We continue through the forests of Xhoris to Harzé. There you'll find a beautiful castle with a bread museum. From here we follow the GR 15 trail to Aywaille. A big part of the last three kilometres is over asphalt.
